Gaining Mastery in Your Area of Calling
The Kingdom of God is not a mystical land of magic and enchantments. It’s a Kingdom of order, principles and processes. It is therefore important that the believer masters the ways and protocols of how it works. We should not be ignorant as that leads to failure and disillusionment.
As a believer you must fall in love with the Word and a continuous lifestyle of fellowship with God. When we study the Word of God prayerfully and meditatively, we allow the Holy Spirit to open the scriptures to us to give us deeper understanding of the mysteries of the wisdom of God and His Kingdom.
There are mysteries in the Kingdom and hidden wisdom that not even Satan can access. It is given to us as God’s children to have access to these mysteries and thereby gain advantage, authority and power over all the powers of darkness and make you a savior in the area where God has placed you (Obadiah 1:21).
God is THE fashion designer. He has the blueprint for the entire industry and learning from Him will catapult you to the top of the industry. You will become the salt and light in fashion. You will institute Kingdom standards and influence the trajectory of culture and lifestyle.
There are three areas that lead to mastery.
- The spirit of fashion
- The science of fashion
- The business of fashion
The spirit of fashion is about understanding fashion from God’s perspective. What was God’s original idea, concept and vision for creating fashion. This is the first and most important area of mastery that you have to fully understand. This is also the place where God will reveal to you, your own role in the grand scheme of things. The what, why, where, how and when of your God given vision.
The science of fashion is about understanding the principles govern the fashion industry. Any kind of production is the result of the right application of principles to control forces and matter. The science of fashion is the right use of resources along the fashion value chain until the final product is achieved.
The science of fashion requires acquisition of right knowledge and skills for whatever work you have specialized in along the value chain. Science, technology and education are the three strings that make this chord.
The business of fashion is the trading aspect dealing with industry, commerce and finance. Industry deals with the economics of production, commerce deals with the selling processes (sales, marketing, customer support) and all the pertains to getting your products into the hands of your customers. Finance deals with the management of cash flow (capital, debt, taxes, profits, etc.).
The business of fashion enables you to manage the growth and sustainability of your business.
GROWTH
The scale of your operations are determined by many factors such as:
- The stage of your business, for example, are you at the startup phase, growth or maturity phase.
- Your experience. Your level of preparedness determines your capacity. There’s nothing wrong with starting small and steadily build capacity as you grow in experience and gain more resources and market.
- The amount of resources available to you presently also determine how much you can do. Resources include; human capital, equipment, raw materials, support services, etc.
- Your faithfulness and diligence in seeking first the Kingdom and God’s righteousness will determine how much God will continue to use you. This is the most important success and growth metric for the Christian professional in the fashion industry.
